Večer ob Svetovnem dnevu boja proti aidsu

The World AIDS day is coming soon. A locally connected network of volunteer organisations “Volunteering in Maribor” will commemorate it in the spirit of inclusion of marginalized social groups. Event will take place on 5th of December 2019 at 5 p.m. in Infopeka. During the event we will listen to a lecture and watch a movie. The event will be in Slovene and English.

On 1st of December we are commemorating the World AIDS day. On this day we wear red bows, with which we don’t just express our awareness of the presence of virus HIV and AIDS, but at the same time we also emphasize our solidarity with those who are infected.
Let’s remember: in 2018 all around the world because of AIDS died 770. 000 people, which is one third less than in 2010, but the fight against it remains very important. Because of that we invited Simon Kovačič, who is a representative of the organisation DrogArt to carry out a lecture about sexually transferable diseases and presents the programmes HIV in night life and Kemseks.

After the lecture we will watch French film 120 beats per minute (120 battements par minute), which received six Cesar awards including the award for best film of the year. Beside that film also received a Grand Jury Award at Cannes film festival. The story of the film is based on true events and it talks about the real heroes who were fighting against AIDS. This was a group of French street activists, which were putting a lot of pressure on politics and pharmaceutical companies during the 90s. Between the fight for better awareness they also had to face with a lot of prejudices towards the AIDS, which existed in the society at that time.

Association DrogArt is non-profit private volunteer organisation, which was established in 1999. Her goal is to decrease the negative consequences of using drugs and alcohol between young people. From 2017 the association with programmes HIV in night life and Kemseks also works on the field of safe sexuality.
