SF16 opening: Vatican Shadow live [Hospital Productions, USA]

Brez ogrevanja - prvi večer bo postregel s prvim imenom festivala. Prvič prihaja v Ljubljano multimedijski izvajalec Dominick Fernow s projektom železarske industrije in techna Vatican Shadow. Začetki edinstvenega kontrasta sintovskih melodičnih ambientov in grmečih bobnov so definirani s kasetnim medijem. Prve izdaje Vatican Shadowa so med leti 2010 in 2012 prihajale v izjemno omejenih nakladah na kasetah, Fernow pa je tudi živi nastop zastavil na miksanju s kaset.
Že pred tem, v drugi polovici 90. let, je raziskoval noizerske odvode z danes ikoničnim projektom Prurient, nič manj kultna pa ni njegova založba Hospital Productions z več kot 500 (!) izdajami raznih podzemnih prčkanj.
Ob njegovem boku najprimernejša podpora, dva velika fena Vaticana in še večja poznavalca noisa ter robne elektronike, connoisseur Jiggy z uvodom in techno avtoriteta Schrauff s plesnim zaključkom_

No warm-up: the first name of the festival will perform on the first night. For the fist time Ljubljana will host the multimedia artist Dominick Fernow with his project of industrial and techno Vatican Shadow. The beginnings of this unique contrast of melodic synth ambients and roaring drums are defined by the cassette medium. The first Vatican Shadow releases (between 2010 and 2012) were distributed exclusively on cassette and Fernow’s live act was based on cassette mixing.
Rewind: in the second half of the nineties Fernow dived deep into his take on noise with his iconic project Prurient and since those beginnings he’s also running a no less than cult label Hospital Productions that has released an incredible 500 titles in almost twenty years of existance.
The home support for Vatican Shadow couldn’t be more appropriate: it comes from two of his big fans and even bigger experts of noise and edgy electronics. The connoisseur Jiggy will take care of the intro and the techno authority Schrauff will finish it off on a dancing note_
